One of the many benefits of the Chairman's Club, Greater Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce's premier level of membership is a monthly luncheon with dynamic guest speakers and high level networking. Chairman's Club members receive invitations by e-mail 2 weeks prior to each luncheon with the details on who will be speaking and where the luncheon will be held. These luncheons generally take place on the second Wednesday of each month from January through November and RSVP to Patty at Patty@delraybeach.com or 561 278 0424 is required. If you are interested in becoming a Chairman's Club member, please contact Kim at Kim@delraybeach.com. If you are interested in more information about this month's luncheon, please contact Tami at Tami@delraybeach.com.
This month we will have the pleasure of hearing Anne Gannon, the first woman to serve as Constitutional Tax Collector in Palm Beach County give us a "What's New News Report" along with a Q & A session afterwards. Anne has lived in Delray Beach almost all of her life and has worked to revamp the antiquated agency she took over in 2006 into a top notch customer service agency. She received the Excellence in Government Leadership Award by the National Association of Government Accountants and has been recognized by the prestigious Deming Institute for her accomplishments. Most recently she was selected as one of Florida Weekly’s 2011 Palm Beach County Power Women List. Anne was handed the job of issuing Real ID driver licenses and state identification cards by the Florida Legislature. Within 90 days she opened the first full service driver license office. Palm Beach County is the largest county in Florida where Tax Collectors took over this service. Anne recently settled a lawsuit with online travel companies for $1.9 million in uncollected Tourist Development Taxes. This money benefits the community. It is used to promote Palm Beach County tourism, fund cultural programs and beach restoration. Lunch will be at Anne's favorite restaurant on Atlantic Ave, 32 East!
