Often we think of orphans as children who live in third world countries, those whose images we see on television or in the newspaper. But they’re not just around the globe, they’re also right here in our own backyard. On any given day in South Florida, there are three to four thousand “temporary orphans” in foster care. Imagine how children must feel when they’re removed from their homes, often with nothing more than the clothes on their back and a garbage bag filled with whatever they were able to quickly pack. These children are created in the image of God and deserve to be treated with dignity and showered with love. So whether it’s a child who is a victim of abuse or neglect, a teenager rejected by his family, or a young girl who is pregnant and alone, from the moment they come into our care, we provide support, encouragement, and direction. Our Vision: A Home for Every Child in Crisis Core Values: Sacrifice::: Serving with the heart of God,whatever the cost. Perseverance::: Never giving up on a child. Integrity::: In everything, above reproach. Compassion::: Walking with children on their path to redemption. Excellence::: Giving our best to those in need.

"Our first three placements were newborns and they all eventually went home, but one of them came back into foster care after a few months and he brought his two older brothers with him. We were not prepared for the challenges of fostering older children but we were determined to give them whatever they needed, and keep these siblings together. 4KIDS Clinical Team jumped in right away to teach us all about trauma-informed care. Working as a team, we have helped our foster children learn new skills to meet their needs and form healthy, loving attachments. Watching our foster children begin to overcome their past and flourish in all areas has been the biggest "win" for us as foster parents. We know that whatever happens in their future, they have been given a strong foundation that will be theirs forever." - Nikki, 4KIDS Foster Parent

The Rotary Club of Pompano Beach is a wonderful friend to 4KIDS. As a part of their annual Charitable Distribution Day, the organization awarded 4KIDS a grant to aid in building more foster families for children in our community. We're glad to call you our Partner of the Week!

This month, one of our house parents took all her girls back to her hometown in Indiana for their first roadtrip. We love all the memories that our families have been making this summer!

We're so grateful to Jullian's Kids for sponsoring our EPIC therapeutic summer camp this year. Thank you for coming alongside us to help kids heal!

We encourage you to spend 10-15 minutes of non-directive, full attention time with your kids every day. No phones, no interruptions. Just intentional time that you’ve set aside to build attachment and relationship. Let your child lead the play time! By doing this consistently, you should see less outbursts or tantrums as well. “Either we spend time meeting children’s emotional needs by filling their cup with love, or we spend time dealing with the behaviors caused by their unmet needs. Either way, we spend the time.” – Pam Leo

From now until July 24th, we're collecting backpacks and school supplies for the kids in our care. To get involved, be sure to bring our supply list to any Office Depot location for a discount off your purchases! To download the list and get more details, visit

The Glashower family is dedicated to helping kids be the best that they can be. "When one of our foster children first came to us they didn't have the reading skills needed to move on to the next grade, but through a lot of hard work, and encouragement, they passed their level. We are so thankful that we get the chance every day to open up our hearts and home to children who need love and a safe place to heal from the hurts they've experienced." It's reasons like this that make our 4KIDS foster parents champions for kids!

We hope all our 4KIDS families and friends have a fantastic Independence Day today!

Last month, a newborn immediately went into the NICU for suspected chronic medical issues and was placed into foster care. Before being able to receive this child into their home, a 4KIDS family spent morning, noon, and evening by the baby's side in the hospital, assisting with feedings, blessing the hospital staff with care packages, and learning everything they could about providing the best quality of care for her medical needs. Now, one month since being discharged from the hospital, this precious infant has no signs of medical concerns! We are so thankful for families like these that go out of their way to show unconditional love and dedication to precious little ones.
